an 80-year-old man in Lavallette in 2019 was sentenced this month to eight years in state prison, authorities said.
Kosanke was driving north on Route 35 at about 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2019 when he struck Thomas Castronovo, of Warren, near Guyer Avenue, the office said. Castronovo later died at Community Medical Center in Toms River. A blood test later revealed Kosanke was under the influence of Xanax, cocaine, fentanyl and gabapentin — an anti-epileptic drug — when he struck Castronovo, authorities said.
