Emergency services rushed to the River Calder after the man 'could no longer be seen'
A man 'vanished' after being washed downstream in the River Calder in Burnley - but was found 'several hundred metres' away.
Emergency services, including North West Ambulance Service, Lancashire Police and and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, attended. Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team also assisted.Shortly after their arrival at the scene, the man was located several hundred meters downstream from where he was last seen. He had managed to get himself out of the river and was carried to an ambulance.
"A multiagency response was initiated, including Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service , NWAS, Lancashire Police and HART , as well as our team’s swift water rescue assets too.
