The Houston Police Department said an officer shot and killed an armed suspect on Shadowdale Drive on Monday.
The Houston Police Department said two officers opened fire after a 44-year-old pulled a gun on them during a raid at a house on Shadowdale Drive.Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said officers with the department's major offenders division were conducting surveillance on the house when they decided to execute a warrant around 4:20 p.m.
They found the suspect in a bedroom and ordered him to come out. Initially, Finner said, the suspect complied but at some point, he went back inside the bedroom, grabbed a gun and pointed it at officers."I'm not going to tell officers to stand by and wait to get shot," Finner said."They're doing their job. We're just trying to keep the community safe."
