Man pleads guilty in Logan Heights house fire that killed his parents, sister [Breaking]

A man accused of setting a house fire that killed his parents and sister at the family’s Logan Heights home has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

His father was found dead inside the home on Clay Avenue near 32nd Street. His mother and sister died at a hospital.His other sister and his younger brother were injured in the pre-dawn fire. Bystanders pulled the sister out of the home, while the brother escaped through a window.Wilber Romero is charged with three counts of murder for Oct. 13, 2019 fire

According to testimony at a court hearing in 2020, investigators said the fire originated in the defendant’s bed in the southeast section of the home. San Diego police Detective Marco Perez testified that he spoke at a hospital with Romero’s sister who survived that fire, and she told him she saw her brother outside the home running back and forth in the street yelling at her to open the door.
