The solo-vehicle collision happened around 9:50 a.m. near the intersection of Snell Avenue and Truckee Lane, San Jose Police Department spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release.
A preliminary investigation revealed the man was driving a 1989 Ford Mustang southbound on Snell Avenue when he left the roadway and hit a tree, according to Shih. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is identified.The death marked the 47th traffic fatality of the year on city streets.
