The fire broke out at a first floor apartment near 37th Avenue and Camelback Road early Friday morning, the Phoenix Fire Department said.
A man was killed in an apartment fire near 37th Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix on Friday, officials said.
Neighbors reported seeing smoke coming from the unit early Friday morning, Phoenix Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Todd Keller said. Crews discovered the smoke was coming from an apartment on the first floor of a two-story apartment complex. Firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to the second floor, Keller said.
The man was found inside the apartment but did not survive his injuries. His identity had not been released as of Friday morning. Officials were working to determine what caused the fire, Keller said. No further details were immediately available.
