Police say a man is dead after a tractor-trailer lost control on Northeast Loop 410 and Interstate 35, flipped over on its side and caught fire. The crash site could be closed for several hours.

Around 12:30 p.m., police sergeants in the area watched as the truck lost control on the southbound lanes of I-35 before flipping, near Binz-Engleman Road. Officers and witnesses were there within minutes and rescued the driver of the truck. “However, there was in fact a passenger that is still inside the rig at this time, and we do believe him to be confirmed deceased,” said Nick Soliz, a spokesman for the department, at an afternoon news conference.As of 2 p.m., police were still investigating and clearing the Interstate. The southbound Loop 410 ramp onto southbound I-35 will be closed for several hours, Soliz said. The southbound access road to I-35 will also be closed.
