Man gets 30 years for 2019 crash in Harris County that killed 19-year-old while fleeing deputy
A Harris County jury found Deshawn Fortee Brown, 27, guilty of murder in connection with the death of Devin Malik Francis, 19, according to court records. He agreed to a 30-year prison sentence after the jury verdict, according to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
Brown was driving a black Ford Fusion on May 5, 2019, when a Precinct 5 Constable’s deputy attempted to pull him over for speeding on Eldridge Parkway, officials said. Brown sped away, running two lights before hitting a white Lexus at the second light. Francis was Brown’s passenger at the time, officials said. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
