A man was shot and killed early Wednesday during an apparent attempted robbery outside a north Houston bar, according to authorities.

The man, described in his late-20s, was shot about 2 a.m. at the 1100 block of Berry Road. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses told investigators the man had appeared to approach another man in a dark sedan before he was shot, authorities added.Police believe the dead man's car to be linked to other robberies in the area, HPD Lt. Ronnie Willkens said, adding a firearm believed to belong to him was recovered at the scene.
