A man died Tuesday evening after he jumped from the balcony of high rise building across from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, police said.
Officers were called to the intersection of Center Street and Park Place shortly before 5:30 p.m. and found the man, who was pronounced dead at 5:48 p.m., according to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé. Police did not specify which building the man jumped from, or how the busy area was impacted. No performance was scheduled at the arts center Tuesday night.
