UPDATE: A man who was suffering from a mental health crisis has died after he was shot by Phoenix police this morning. STORY:
It happened around 10:30 a.m. near 111th Avenue and Camelback Road in west Phoenix.
Officials say officers were called to the area by a manager at a mental health facility for a man suffering a mental health crisis. Update on Phoenix police shooting When officers arrived at the two-story group home the man was reportedly armed with a knife and was standing at the top of the stairs. Police officials say after about 15 minutes of talking with the man and giving him commands to drop the knife he refused and advanced toward officers.At that point, one officer shot the man, according to police.No officers were injured in the incident.
