Comox Valley RCMP say evidence from the scene suggests the shots were fired into the trees, which they called deeply concerning given the nearby trails.

On May 25, police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of Cliffe, Kilpatrick and Fitzgerald avenues in Courtenay. Officers determined the shots had likely come from Bill Moore Park.

The Comox Valley RCMP street crimes unit gathered additional evidence and identified a suspect. Police said Tuesday that a 32-year-old Comox Valley man was arrested and charges are being recommended.
