BREAKING: Accrington man arrested after 'baseball bat attack' on Blackburn estate
Several streets around Fawcett Close were cordoned off yesterday afternoon at 3.20pm after the incident with a man being taken to hospital by air ambulance. A large police presence remained at the scene for several hours while detectives investigated.
The victim suffered serious injuries during the alleged attack with a weapon, believed to be a baseball bat, which is understood to have happened in the street. He remains in hospital for treatment.Police have now confirmed that a 31-year-old man has been arrested. He was detained in Accrington in the early hours of this morning .
A force spokesperson said: "You will remember that yesterday afternoon we made an appeal for witnesses and information after a serious assault in Blackburn. We were called to Fawcett Close at around 3.20pm to a report that a man had been attacked with a weapon and had suffered serious injuries. "To update you, officers arrested a 31-year-old man in Accrington in the early hours of this morning and he is currently in custody. The victim remains in hospital for treatment to his injuries.
"We continue to appeal for witnesses and information about the attack. Anyone with information can contact the police on 101 or by emailing [email protected] – quoting log 0805 of March 24, 2023."
