Cops were called to Charlotte Street at around 7.40pm on Saturday after receiving reports of an allegedly suspicious individual
Police have arrested a 28-year-old man who was said to have been "acting suspiciously" in the vicinity of the First Minister's official residence in Edinburgh.
Eyewitnesses said that officers were seen to enter the residence upon arrival. Shortly thereafter, they erected a cordon along part of the square, containing the scene.However, they have stressed that there was "no threat" to the public as a whole.
