Bryan Benjamin, 36, was charged with attempted murder and felonious assault for the incident which happened on Feb. 20 near East Linden.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man accused of stabbing a Mifflin Township police officer in the head earlier this year was found incompetent to stand trial., 36, was charged with attempted murder and felonious assault for the incident which happened on Feb. 20 near East Linden.

Officers were called to the area on a report of a suspicious person. When an officer arrived, he made contact with Benjamin and attempted to detain him. Records say that Benjamin resisted arrest and stabbed the officer in the head multiple times with a homemade knife, causing serious injuries. According to Franklin County Court of Common Pleas records, a judge ruled that Benjamin is"incapable of understanding the nature and objective of the proceedings" against him. The judge ordered Benjamin to undergo treatment at the Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare facility for one year, as there is a chance he could become competent if he was treated. 10TV+ is available for free:
