Kana said officials have known water would be an issue in the future for the city with a population of more than 2,500 residents. They have been preparing for growth but it got ahead of them, he said.During a Dec. 13 council meeting, city officials said developers with ongoing projects could continue to build, however they aren't guaranteed water connections until this summer.
Several developers expressed concerns and frustration over the city's response to the water issue, questioning officials' planning. Mike Kurzy, vice president of AEI Engineering of Baxter and Woodman Co., said during the public hearing that the city has made a commitment of more than 11,000 water connections.connections won't be needed all at once, with connections being added over several years.
"That was money that was paid four years ago," he said."Four years is enough time to build multiple water plants."in two years, according to a previous report.
