With 3:38 remaining in double overtime, Madison forward Saul Schriber scored a goal amidst heavy traffic, propelling the Mavericks to a 1-0 victory against Clemens in the Class 6A bi-district round of the playoffs. Schriber, who played through a hamstring injury, was limping after the 100-minute match. “I just like to play for my team,” Schriber said. “We haven't been in the playoffs in a very long time.
Cast your vote here! “It’s my job as a goalkeeper to keep the team in the game,” Gongora said. “To knock down any shot that comes my way.” In the first overtime, Gongora knocked down another Clemens shot on goal. “He's special,” Hitzfelder said. “He is a good goalkeeper and a natural talent. And he knows where to be and reads the game well, which is important.” Gongora, a junior, said playing soccer for Madison for the first time this season has been fun.
