After MGK made fun of Slipknot's masks over the weekend, the two artists traded allegations over a never-released collaboration.
What's it all about? Well, Taylor explained the possible origin of the bad blood in a tweet on Monday night , in which he wrote,"I don’t like people airing private s--- like a child. So this is all I’ll say: I didn’t do the track because I don’t like when people try to ‘write’ for me. I said NO to THEM. So without further ado…. #receipts This is all I’m going to say about it."
What followed were two screenshots from a pair of emails from Taylor and MGK's frequent collaborator, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker that referenced a song Taylor was slated to appear on from the rapper's No. 1 2020 pop-punk albumDownfall; the song appeared on a bonus version of the album but does not feature Taylor. In it, Barker appears to say that he and Kelly really loved the vocals Taylor sent them, along with some notes from MGK.
"Yo Corey! We love it. Peep these notes from Kels. It's super f---in' close," reads the purported email from Barker. In his notes, MGK writes,"Yo Trav!! got super inspired again after listening to Corey's vocals on 'Can't Look Back' and added some guitars over his part so it's kicks u in the face right when his voice comes in.
He said he added a bridge that he thought was"pretty powerful" that he thought Barker and Taylor would dig, and then went on to say that he'd sent Taylor an idea for the second half of his verse that he said"he can obviously say f--- it but it would be sick to see if it inspired anything or if he could try it like that.
Well, MGK had some thoughts as well, which he aired in a series of tweets on Monday, opening with,"very odd that when an artist talks s---, and i respond, i'm the bad guy." In a second tweet he expanded,"corey did a verse for a song on album, it was f---ing terrible, so i didn’t use it. he got mad about it, and talked s--t to a magazine about the same album he was almost on. yalls stories are all off. just admit he’s bitter.
