City\u0027s LRT system has been shut down since last week and it is expected to be some time before it\u0027s running again.

The city’s LRT system continues to be shut down one week after trains were pulled from service during afternoon rush hour because excess grease was detected on a train axle.In an update Monday morning, transit services general manager Renée Amilcar said several tests have been completed or were underway, including checks of the rails and of the affected axle.

Transit managers have been under fire over the R1 bus service, with riders saying the replacement service has been inadequate, while bus service all over the city has suffered as buses have been pressed into service to replace trains.Article content
