Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour president Jessica McCormick says provincial pay equity legislation remains a failure to date. “For decades workers in this province have been calling for proactive pay equity legislation, and what we got from the government this year was a lazy attempt that appears to have been drafted to do nothing more than keep employers happy.”“We will not stand by while women and gender-diverse people are left to be the ordained shock absorbers of the province’s economy — enough is enough.”
