No one was struck. Police said a suspect had pointed what looked like a handgun at officers.

A Los Angeles police officer fired at least one shot at three suspects in Arleta after one of them pointed what appeared to be a handgun, but no one was struck and the three suspects were later taken into custody Saturday morning, authorities said.

Officers were in the area of Hoyt Street and Canterbury Avenue probing a stolen vehicle when they spotted two men and a woman on the sidewalk on Hoyt Street about 3 a.m., police said. One of the men pointed an object at police and an officer fired at least one shot, but did not hit the suspects as they ran off, police said.

SWAT and K9 units were called as officers set up a large perimeter, police said. All three suspects were found and two were hospitalized after being bitten by K9 units.Whether the three suspects were next to the stolen vehicle when they were spotted was not known. Any connection between the suspects and the stolen vehicle investigation was not specified.
