Ahead of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim's release date later this year, 20 minutes of footage from the anime was screened at an Annecy panel. According to The Wrap, the footage begins with narration from Miranda Otto's Eowyn, revealing that the film takes place 200 years before Bilbo encounters the One Ring. The footage spotlights the film's new hero, Hèra , who rejects marraige with Wulf , thus sparking a great war.
