The Texas Department of Transportation has resumed closures on Loop 1604 following the total solar eclipse. The closures are related to bridge construction as part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project.
The Texas Department of Transportation limited Loop 1604 closures leading up to and for a couple of days after the total solar eclipse . But now that the celestial event is in our collective rearview mirror, the closures are back. In fact, starting 9 p.m. today, TxDOT will be shutting down lanes in two sections of Loop 1604 on the North Side. The closures are scheduled to last through 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.
Travelers wanting to get back on the main lanes will use the entrance ramp after the interchange and just before Vance Jackson Road. Drivers heading west on Loop 1604 will take the I-10 exit ramp and get on the loop’s westbound frontage road. Those drivers and motorists heading west on the frontage road should follow the signs for westbound I-10. Take the westbound I-10 frontage road to La Cantera Parkway.
