Moses 'Andre’ Stancil,' a longtime Colorado Department of Corrections staffer, is appointed as the department’s executive director.

Stancil previously served DOC as deputy executive director from February 2022 to November 2022, and he served as DOC’s deputy executive director of prison operations from 2019 to 2022. Stancil worked in the Federal Bureau of Prisons in multiple roles from 1998 to 2019. “Andre has been a dedicated member of the Federal Bureau of Prisons team and now the Colorado Department of Corrections for many years, and we are thrilled that he will bring his expertise and commitment to this critical role,” said Polis. “We look forward to continuing our work to make Colorado one of the ten safest states in the country in the next five years working closely with Andre at the helm of DOC.
Stancil began his career as a correctional officer with the DOC and served in the U.S. Army as a military police investigator. He earned a master’s degree in criminology in 2009 and a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, both from Regis University.
