February stats
After increasing significantly in January the local unemployment rate decreased significantly last month.
According to Statistics Canada February’s unemployment rate in the Belleville Census Metropolitan Area dropped to 5.5% from 6.1% in January.The lower unemployment rate came despite a higher worker participation rate, at 65.1% than the month before. Meanwhile the national unemployment rate remained at 5% in February and went down slightly in Ontario to 5.1% from 5.2%.
