Dallas area trail systems getting grant for infrastructure projects

“Today’s announcement is a major milestone in Trust for Public Land’s effort to bring to life the 80-year old vision for the Five Mile Creek Greenbelt,” Robert Kent, Texas State Director for Trust for Public Land, said in a press release. “We are grateful to Secretary Buttigieg and the U.S. Department of Transportation for their confidence in us to move this project forward.”, also called the Cotton Belt Route, is receiving $25 million to construct about 5.

The RAISE grant program, expanded under the president’s infrastructure law, supports communities of all sizes with the funding split between rural and urban areas.The grants are part of President Joe Biden’s Investing in America agenda that is rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure.“We are helping communities in every state across the country realize their visions for new infrastructure projects,” Buttigieg said.

Seventy percent of the grants are going to projects in regions defined as poverty or historically disadvantaged. The demand for RAISE funding was higher than available funds with $15 billion in requests for the $2.26 billion available. The full list of projects can be viewed
