Do you have a savings strategy when you head to the grocery store? Tuesday, on KIRO 7 News in the Morning, at 6:45am, We asked budget savvy shoppers to share their playbook. We will have some great tips, that are going to make your fridge & wallet happy!

KIRO 7 recruited a local couponer who shared her top three free resources to help you save big on your next trip to the grocery store.said loyalty programs are the #1 way to start saving. Signing up for a grocery store’s loyalty program is free — all you have to do is ask.

Not only will you automatically get special savings, but most will give you discounts on gas the more you shop. The more you buy, the more you save. Stores such as QFC and Fred Meyer also send coupon mailers to their members. Some even include offers for free items and discounts if you spend a certain amount in one shopping trip.

The second saving tip is coupons. Not only can shoppers clip coupons from mailers, but they can also be found at some stores. If you want to avoid clipping coupons manually, you can get e-coupons by downloading your favorite grocery store’s mobile app, which you can link to your rewards account. The third tip is to combine coupons and in-store sales with a rebate app, such as Fetch Rewards or Ibotta, that gives you cash back on items you’re buying.
