Hunter Biden faces three felony charges related to a gun he purchased in 2018. His trial began Monday in Delaware.
Hunter Biden leaves federal court in Wilmington on the second day of his trial on criminal gun charges Monday. Hallie Biden, the widow of Beau Biden who began a romantic relationship with Hunter Biden after her husband died of brain cancer, took the witness stand Thursday in Hunter Biden’s federal trial to describe their volatile relationship, their drug use and how she found the gun at the heart of the case.
Prosecutors have said they expect to be able to question Hallie Biden and the five additional witnesses they plan to call within the span of one day, making it possible they could rest their case Thursday. After the prosecution rests, Hunter Biden’s defense attorneys may call their own witnesses. Thursday began with a cross-examination of the salesman who sold Biden the gun in October 2018. Biden’s attorneys have contended he was not taking drugs at the time and therefore did not lie on a form he filled out when he purchased it.in filling out the paperwork to purchase the weapon, specifically when he claimed not to be addicted to or using illegal drugs, and then unlawfully possessing that Colt revolver for 11 days.
The federal trial in Wilmington, Del., is not being televised, and reporters are not permitted to send live updates from the courtroom or the overflow room.
