A number of Leeds school are closed today due to heavy snow with severe weather warnings in force
Hundreds of pupils across Leeds have been told to stay at home today with a severe weather warning in force
Amber and yellow weather warnings for snow are in place in Leeds and beyond with significant disruption expected until later today. Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Matthew Lehnert, said: “An amber warning for snow has been issued for the high ground running north in the centre of northern England as snow redevelops through the course of Thursday and persist until early Friday. Here we could see up to 40cm of snow accompanied by strong winds causing blizzard conditions.“Within this large warning area, snow accumulations are less certain. At low levels, accumulations are expected to be more patchy with 2-5 cm in places.
Several schools across Leeds shut yesterday and more will close their doors today due to heavy overnight show which has battered Leeds and Yorkshire.
