Composer Alan Menken changed lyrics in 'Kiss the Girl' so Prince Eric does not 'force himself' onto the title character in 'Little Mermaid.'
"Kiss the Girl" arrives at a moment when Prince Eric is on a boat with Ariel . Ariel may have gotten her legs, but she lost her voice through her agreement with Ursula the sea witch.
Menken, who created the soundtracks for the Disney classics"Beauty and the Beast" and"Aladdin," among others, did not indicate which words in"Kiss the Girl" he has changed. A similar refrain in the song says:"Boy, you better do it soon / No time will be better / She don’t say a word / And she won’t say a word / Until you kiss the girl."
