LILLEY: Trudeau Liberals now blaming $6,000 per night hotel costs on RCMP cdnpoli
That’s the first we’ve heard of that explanation despite dozens of questions and references to the government on this very issue. In fact, until last week, they refused to answer questions about who stayed in the $6,000 per night room from the opposition or various media outlets.
Instead, the PMO refused to answer questions on this matter. Global Affairs Canada, which was ultimately responsible for booking the hotel also refused to respond to questions. As we discovered later, Minister Melanie Joly’s office actually ordered bureaucrats at Global Affairs not to answer any questions from me on this matter days after I had asked and published.
The Trudeau government really didn’t want this information out there and they worked hard to stop it from being released. It was only released last week and U.S. President Joe Biden was landing in Canada because a Commons committee had demanded the information and the PMO had run out of legal ways to keep the information secret.Article content
Maybe that is the case but wouldn’t it have been better to provide that answer last October? Even if it wasn’t in the first story, which it easily could have been, they could have released that information in the subsequent days.
