MPs are playing partisan games on what should be a non\u002Dpartisan issue, keeping China, or any other country, out of our elections.
The claim from the Liberals is that we can’t just put top-secret documents out in public. That’s not what has been called for, the actual motion from the Conservatives calls for the Law Clerk of Parliament to censor any information that would put national security at risk.
The Liberals even opposed the push to have Justin Trudeau’s chief of staff, Katie Telford, testify. Telford is believed to be the Liberal operative that CSIS approached to warn them about concerns regarding Liberal MP, but then candidate Han Dong, in 2019.Article content None of these ideas are bad things in and of themselves but they could be dealt with in separate committee hearings. Expanding the scope of this hearing to include four elections and interference from multiple countries won’t accomplish anything except watering down the focus of the committee.
