Republican supporters of former President Donald Trump are more likely to be skeptical of vaccines in general, according to a new poll of likely 2024 voters.
A Morning Consult and Politico joint poll found that 34% of Trump primary supporters say that childhood vaccines in general, including those for Measles, Chickenpox, and Polio, are"somewhat" or"very" unsafe, compared to 17% of those who are unlikely to support the former president in the 2024 primaries.The poll also found that 74% of Republicans have tended to follow the government-recommended vaccine schedule compared to 86% of Democrats and 71% of independents.
When it comes to COVID-19 vaccinations, however, Republican voters are split, with 52% saying that they are"very" or"somewhat" safe compared to 91% of Democrats and 69% of independents who feel the same. Other Republicans, appealing to the Trump-base of the party, have criticized the former president for his faith in COVID-19 vaccines.
