A lighter found at the scene where a woman was set on fire had her husband and brother-in-law's DNA on it, an inquest has heard.
Today, the hearing was told that a lighter found in the living room of the couple's home - where Ms Akhtar is believed to have been set alight - had DNA matching that of her husband, Waqas Mahmood, and his brother, Hasnain Mahmood, on it. Speaking in a combination of broken English and Punjabi, she said: “He goes to her house every day. This person has made my life difficult. He is such a vile, mean person. He is uneducated and illiterate.”
In a video-recorded police interview played in court, Ms Khan said: “She said he had been sleeping with his ex-wife. She kept saying ‘they told me to kill myself. They told me to do it.'
