Jeanne Carrière, 27, of Lachute, Que., holds her hand in a fist, something she wasn't able to do after breaking her neck in 2021 and losing use of her hands and lower body. But thanks to surgery at Montreal's Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital in July 2022, function is returning.

She says one of the most important changes in recent months is that she has been able to return to work as a screenwriter.
