The Libertarian Party of Bexar County protested Saturday against the city’s planned court action to acquire Moses Rose’s Hideout.
People gather Saturday inside Moses Rose’s Hideout to listen to owner Vince Cantu describe his battle against the city, which is preparing to use eminent domain to acquire the property for a new Alamo visitor center and museum.
Decrying the “immoral use of eminent domain,” the Libertarian Party of Bexar County staged a protest Saturday evening in Travis Park against the city’s planned court action to acquire a sports bar near the Alamo called Moses Rose’s Hideout for a new visitor center and museum. The speakers addressed “the subjects of property, liberty and honor,” the party said in a news release. The bar’s owner, Vincent Cantu, turned down the city’s $4 million offer for the property.
