Letters to the Editor, June 2, 2023
Re “It’s no gardens party” : According to Google, the population of Toronto is approximately 2.8 million. Also, according to Google, the homeless make up .003% of that population. Could someone please explain to me why .003% of the population is allowed to live in squalor and endanger the rest of the population with their behaviour. I support treatment for people who are mentally ill or addicted.
Then build treatment centres, not drug distribution centres, and make sure people get treatment for whatever demons they are dealing with. The city may already own properties that could be renovated and used as treatment facilities. But it is going to take a very strong mayor and an equally strong city council to deal with this effectively. Please return Toronto to the beautiful city it once was.
