Re: “Pastors call new trend dangerous — They warn rise in Christian nationalism is ‘not our faith’, ” Oct. 9 Metro story, and “Christian nationalism is, indeed, a threat to U.S.,” Oct. 9 Opinion.publish two pieces warning us about Christian nationalism, a close relative to fundamentalism. Because I am reading the latest book by Andrew L. Seidel,, I was especially drawn to this essay.

Reminding people of faith of what they could lose if Christian nationalism becomes embedded in the government is a way to strengthen the forces that oppose Christian nationalism and is a tactic that can triumph over it.America is a nation of Christians. And just as much, it is a nation of Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Native American spiritualists, agnostics, atheists and whatever.

He continues on to give his opinion of how our Judeo-Christian history has morphed into identity politics in today’s world, where Christians are privileged and everyone else is a guest. I couldn’t help but laugh at his examples. He is just another supposed authority who wants to blame Christian nationalism for our country’s ills.

If there were a god who was in control and cared about us individually, he would communicate the truth to everyone equally. The fact that that he hasn’t is proof that all religions are man-made and not supernaturally inspired. Life has nuances. I have thought to myself how the Supreme Court has come out on the side of freedom of religion that, in a way, favors religion rather than a separation of religion and state, in some recent decisions.Rebecca Bertoni, LantanaThanks for the recent column regarding Christian nationalism and the importance of separation of church and state.
