It has been over a year since it was reported that asbestos pipes were releasing asbestos into the water in Winnipeg. A few weeks ago, the investigative news show W5 reported that there were 531 kilometres of asbestos water pipes in Regina and fibres were found in the water. The city administrator denied asbestos in the water at this time. They test annually.Article content
It appears that the cost of dealing with this public health crisis was enough to keep the public in the dark and ignorant of this crisis. The community-based asbestos water pipe committee is now asking our premier and Saskatoon city council for an updated report on this serious public health matter.
