ICYMI: LETTER: City of Charlottetown has no room for creativity | SaltWire
Audience members watch Lady Soul featuring vocalist Kelley Mooney give the first performance on stage of the Victoria Park cultural pavilion in July 2017.It is with discouragement that I have recently read of questions of financial irregularities regarding the City of Charlottetown.
The suggestion of financial irregularities makes those who hold the purse strings extra cautious when approaching budget time. Where is the room for creativity and innovation when the public is peeved? There isn’t any room. So, while other Island municipalities are inviting to performers, the City of Charlottetown will be forced to stick with the status quo — fireworks and big names from away. I feel for those programmers at city hall whose wings are clipped by the long shadow of waste.
