A first look at the new LEGO Mjølnir set has been revealed. Mjølnir is Thor’s most famous weapon, appearing in many MCU films. Like the character himself, the weapon is derived directly from Norse mythology and was introduced to audiences along with its wielder in the 2011 film Thor. The hammer is notable for having its own powers, whereby it can only be picked up by someone who is deemed worthy to wield it.
Since its introduction, the weapon has become one of the MCU’s most iconic symbols. Along with Captain America’s shield, the hammer is instantly recognizable and easily associated with Marvel’s superhero universe. In recent films, the hammer has also become a significant plot point.
Fans of LEGO and the MCU will be excited by the chance to build such an iconic Marvel weapon with their own hands. The design of the set looks relatively simple, fitting the hammer’s established aesthetic. However, it comes in 979 pieces, so it will take a fair bit of time to complete. Fans of the wider MCU will be hoping that LEGO continues to create large sets of MCU-related objects and figures, as there’s plenty of potential.
The story of Mjølnir within the MCU looks to have come to its conclusion, as Captain America returned the hammer to its original timeline. Now, Thor wields the mighty axe Stormbreaker. It was forged in combination by Eitri the Dwarf and Groot, who provided the handle, and was the weapon that was used to decapitate Thanos. The axe will no doubt become just as iconic as Thor’s Mjølnir, and fans will get a closer look at it with the release of Thor: Love and Thunder. .
