Lead detective in 1994 double homicide testifies to close Crown's case yyc

“I saw two bodies lying in the living room,” the witness said, describing the basement scene at a 10 Ave. S.E. duplex. Bushell said Deakins “was lying on his back with his legs sort of in a buckled position. It appeared he fell backwards when he was shot.”The retired detective said the crime scene was a chaotic one.
“It appeared to me that quite an altercation took place in the basement which was indicative of blood on a machete and blood on the clothes of the deceased,” Bushell said. He said he and his then-partner, retired Det. Brian Skeet, arrived around 4:40 a.m. that day and were on scene for about 40 minutes before leaving to conduct other investigative tasks.
