Bonser said the district hopes that the issues will be resolved without having to file the lawsuit.of the arts center, citing poor workmanship. The center was originally scheduled to open in mid-January.

Floors in the building have “significant cracking as a result of poor workmanship and/or design,” the district said in December. The 82,000-square-foot, $67.5 million project was funded through the school district’s 2016 bond totaling $481 million. Operating costs, including staffing and programming support, utilities and maintenance, are an estimated $660,000 annually and are not eligible for the bond funding under Texas law, according to the center’s website.
