International Women’s Day is officially marked on March 8, but LU has a week-long schedule of events planned in honour of the occasion
International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
On March 7, LU’s Women’s Centre , a volunteer-led group who advocates for women’s equality and a positive environment for women on campus, is hosting an Open House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Historically, the function of the Women’s Centre has been to support women in crisis or who are disadvantaged. We offer a friendly atmosphere in addition to emergency support,” said volunteer and third-year Bachelor of Arts student, Josephine Suorineni.
