2021 was found to be the fifth warmest of the last seven years, followed closely by 2015 and 2018 — “a reminder of the continued increase in global temperatures and the urgent necessity to act,” according to Mauro Facchini, Head of Earth Observation at the Directorate General for Defence Industry and Space, European Commission.
