Leaders of the Canada Employment and Immigration Union said an \u0027overwhelming\u0027 number of their members called on them to refuse the deal

CEIU holds significant weight within PSAC because it represents 36,000 of the nearly 100,000 members of PSAC’s programs and administrative services groups, by far the largest of four units totalling 120,000 public servants who were recently on strike across Canada.

On Sunday, PSAC and the Treasury Board Secretariat reached a four-year tentative agreement after 10 days of striking and two years of on-and-off acrimonious negotiations. The deal must now be put to a vote with PSAC members and ratified by 51 per cent of them to come into force.Article content In its missive, CEIU leadership also says its members are unsatisfied with the fact PSAC was not able to convince the government to put the right to teleworking into the new tentative agreement.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, PSAC National President Chris Aylward said his bargaining teams are recommending the agreement be accepted, but that it’s up to members to speak up now. Aylward said Union of Taxation Employees’ members were “fed up.” He re-iterated his call on the government to present a fair offer immediately, noting that if a deal is not made by Thursday, the union will bring picket lines to the Liberal party convention in downtown Ottawa this week.
