Langford residents will be notified directly by Canada Pot of the changes, says the city.
Langford residents will see their mail address listed as “Langford” rather than Victoria starting in late June following a request to Canada Post from the city.
A staff report to council says Canada Post has processed the city’s request and effective June 19 will implement the change so that the primary mailing address will be Langford. However, if the address is shown as Victoria on an envelope or parcel, as it is now, the mail will still be delivered, according to the city.Businesses are not required to update their corporate or legal documents with a Langford address, but can choose to do so.
Langford residents and businesses should receive a letter from Canada Post in the coming days advising them to update their address with utilities, billers, and banking institutions, says the report.Langford, under then-mayor Stew Young, began asking the business community several years ago to market themselves as Langford. At that time it also began talking with Canada Post and Insurance Corporation of British Columbia about the address change.
