McCullers departed the game with the score knotted at 2-2. In the seventh inning, Díaz, who started at second base while Jose Altuve got a day off, launched a two-run shot into the Crawford Boxes to give the Astros a lead they never surrendered. It is worth noting that McCullers’ accomplishments came against an A’s squad with the worst team batting average in the majors . But it is also worth noting that McCullers is exhibiting a climbing propensity for generating swing-and-misses along with improving endurance. Both are especially encouraging to see during his first month of major league pitching this year.
