Earlier this year, Manheim Township opted to not renew its contract with Lancaster Township.

Lancaster Township named its new police chief ahead of the department's return to the township in 2025.For the first time in decades, Lancaster Township will have its own police force again. Monday night was the first of many steps in the process.

I’m experienced, I’ve worked in a lot of different roles with the state police as a station commander, crime section commander, patrol section commander, and I’m dedicated to putting in the time and effort to make this a successful police department,” Getz said.A new title for Getz, who is officially the chief of the Lancaster Township Police Department. 'I’m excited. I don’t know of too many townships that started from scratch.
