The Lancaster Bureau of Police is continuing recruitment efforts as the department faces a shortage of officers.
On Friday, the department unveiled a new agility course. It's part of a new test applicants must pass before advancing into the hiring process.The Lancaster police force is short 34 positions, ranging from street officers to specialty units.The shortage could soon mean that officers have to work overtime.'The citizens of Lancaster haven't felt the loss of numbers that we have right now, but our officers are starting to feel that now,' Sgt. Todd Grager said.

Staffing at other Susquehanna Valley departmentsWGAL checked on police staffing in other Susquehanna Valley cities.Harrisburg has 165 uniformed and civilian officers. The department is looking to hire more next year. York has 107 officers and also plans to add more. The exact number is not yet known.
